Lake Alpnach is a popular destination for windsurfers and wakeboarders.
The windsurfing spot is located in the Delli curve right by the cantonal road between Alpnachstad and Stansstad. In the morning, a constant wind blows, allowing beginners to make their first attempts at standing on the surfboard. From midday onwards, the wind picks up so that advanced surfers can get their money's worth.
Those who prefer to stay out of the water pull on their hiking boots and embark on the lake circuit, a nine-kilometre path around Lake Alpnach.
There is a small, family-run campsite in Alpnachstad near Niederstad.

Lake Alpnach is not an independent lake, but a branch of Lake Lucerne. It lies in Cantons Obwalden and Nidwalden and flows into Lake Lucerne at Acheregg in Stansstad.
