Along the narrow lakeside road on Lake Lucerne we drive past the former military fortress of Fürigen to Kehrsiten. At the foot of the famous Bürgenstock there are numerous places to stop for refreshments and boat connections.

A funicular runs from Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock up to the Bürgenstock Resort. There you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and lakes. Nearby there is the Bürgenstock Felseweg and Hammetschwand lift, the highest free-standing open-air lift in Europe. More information: felsenweg.ch.

Turn-by-turn directions
We start the cycling tour at Stansstad railway station and then cross the lakeside municipality of Stansstad in the direction of Harissen Bay. Here begins a narrow lakeside road along Lake Lucerne to Kehrsiten. This is partly blasted into the rock. Shortly after Harissenbucht, we pass the former military fortress of Fürigen, a 200-metre-long cave system. Today it is open as a museum from April to October. Far from the hustle and bustle, you will find an oasis of relaxation in Kehrsiten.
