High above Lake Geneva, we slowly slip away from the perpetual sparkle and play of colours of the vast expanse of water at our backs and approach Gruyère, one of Switzerland's famous cheese strongholds. Soon we are in German-speaking Switzerland and drive through Saanenland towards Brienz. Via Lakes Thun and Brienz we cross the Brünig Pass to Lake Lungern and Lake Sarnen and finally to Sarnen, the capital of the Canton of Obwalden.
From Sarnen on Lake Sarnen we continue to the tourist metropolis of Lucerne on Lake Lucerne. The tour is also called the Lakes Route. Living up to the name, we reach the lakes of Zug, Aegeri, Sihl, Zurich, Walen and finally Lake Constance. In between, there are always some tough transitions to conquer, but the beautiful panorama makes you forget the exertions.
