Circumnavigating Lake Alpnach can be done at almost any time of year. The Lopper south flank is home to various snakes and lizards, which can be observed in warm weather, basking in the sun on stones by the water.
The path from Stansstad is partly built as a boardwalk parallel to the road. After crossing the Chli Schliere near Alpnachstad, it traverses nature reserves with reed-covered bays (info panels). It then crosses the Sarner Aa, then climbs northeast to Vorderrüti, north past the Drachenflue. The path leads down to the Betti through meadows, then through the striking Rotz gorge and back to the lake. The circumnavigation of the lake ends in Stasstad.
